About Breast Reduction Surgery
Abnormally large breasts can create social and functional challenges for women. In addition, uneven and very large breasts can lead to self-image issues and overall embarrassment, as well as physical pain. Our team of specialists in Las Vegas, NV have helped countless women rebuild their confidence and feel more comfortable through a cosmetic breast reduction. This plastic surgery at Plastic Surgery Vegas removes excess breast fat and skin, as well as unhealthy tissue to recontour the breasts to a smaller, more balanced size. Breast reduction surgery also reconstructs the size of the nipples/areolas and repositions them so they appear normal with the new size. In most cases, a breast lift is implemented to provide a more taut and youthful appearance.
If you suffer from oversized breasts that create obstacles in your daily life, a surgical breast reduction may be a good option to achieve the silhouette you desire. This surgery is helpful for women who experience constant worry or find it difficult to lead a fulfilled and active life because of the size of their breasts. If you also have consistent skin irritations (as well as neck pain), breast reduction surgery can greatly diminish these annoyances. Our highly trained and experienced team will listen to your concerns to develop a custom treatment that aligns with your goals.

"After contemplating a breast augmentation for many years i began to research plastic surgeons in Las Vegas . I had heard good things about Dr. Edwards from several friends who had work done by him and were pleased with their results. After seeing him and a few other doctors in the area I knew right away I was making the right choice by choosing Dr. Edwards and was certain I would be getting A+ work. He is very honest and realistic about what type of results you will get after your surgery and takes the time to go over your body with you and only gives you options that will look good for your body type specifically. I also never felt rushed. I was very confused on what size I should get and the Dr. as well as his staff was very patient with me as I went back a couple times just to try on implant sizes. Dr. Edwards is one of the most compassionate, caring doctors I have ever met and although he is running a business i never felt like he was after my money and I truly feel like his number one priority was my safety and to make me feel as comfortable as possible while going through with my breast augmentation. I had my surgery at Flamingo surgery center and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff there. They put my nerves at ease and made the surgery process easier than I expected. The Anesthesiologist Dr. Boman is very gentle and kind , and very experienced ( he is also pretty funny ). You can be assured you are in good hands. Dr. Edwards is available all hours of any day and always there to answer questions you may have before and after surgery. It has been three weeks out from surgery and so far I am very pleased with my results. I have already recommended Dr. Edwards to a friend who is having her breasts done by him later this month, just as I would recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who truly cares for his patients and does amazing plastic surgery ! Thank you again to Dr Edwards, Dr. Boman, Kathy, Jackie Perez, Kelly and everyone at the flamingo surgery center for everything you have done for me !"- E.R. / Yelp / Nov 04, 2013
"If you are considering breast augmentation, Dr. Edwards is the best! This was my second surgery, a remove and replace, after having kids. The staff was very helpful, both Kathy and Jacqueline, for everything from choosing the right size, to calming my doubts. They were very friendly and professional. Dr. Edwards is very reassuring. His calm and caring attitude made me feel special and like he really was listening to what I wanted. I am healing very quickly and without issues. I am very happy with my entire experience and highly recommend Dr. Edwards!"- A.N. / Yelp / Jan 10, 2017
"I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. MICHAEL EDWARDS :) This review is LONG OVERDUE!! Dr. Michael Edwards and his staff helped to give me my confidence back with my 56 year old body! I interviewed just one other surgeon before I met Dr. Edwards. When I met Dr. Edwards, I knew I wanted him to do my surgery. He EDUCATES you to make an informed decision. I had breast augmentation with lift on 5/12/16 and have not had one moment of regret. His staff, Cathy and Jacqueline (I apologize if I left anyone out!) are honest and caring!! By far, my decision to have this done was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! Please don't settle Ladies...you want HIM and his staff to take care of you!!"- E.T. / Yelp / Jun 10, 2017
"I thought about getting a breast reduction/lift for a few years. I've spoken with a few surgeons in Vegas, and once I met Dr Edwards I knew that he was the Dr for me. I am one week post op, and I can already tell that the results are amazing. First of all, he is a very experienced surgeon who puts patient safety first. His skills are amazing. Just look at his before/after pics. He simply does beautiful work, and I am beyond happy that I chose Dr Edwards. His Nurse Jacqueline and his scrub tech Cathy and the team at the Specialty Surgery Center were also excellent. Dr Edwards told me that this surgery would be life changing, and he was right. My only regret was that I didn't do it sooner."- J.R. / Yelp / Nov 28, 2017
breast reduction Technique
Breast reduction surgery is an outpatient treatment and is conducted with general anesthesia. The timing of surgery is dependent upon a few factors, including the complexity of the incision, the overall reduction technique, and finally, how much reduction is required. The areola and nipple area repositioning is another factor. Typically, liposuction is required for fat removal to reduce breast size. During the private consultation, all of these factors are addressed with our team. The topic of scarring is also scrupulously examined and talked through as it is likely to occur. However, advanced methods have led to a decrease in the visibility of scarring. Depending on the complexity of the reduction, either an inverted-T or a vertical incision will be used. The breast tissue will be removed, and the surrounding skin and tissue will be pulled and lifted.
after your surgery
Once surgery has been completed, you will be observed closely in our quiet recovery area and then sent home to heal. A draining tube is usually inserted near the incision area to assist with bleeding and swelling. A medical sports bra will be put in place for a few days that will increase blood circulation to the breasts during the immediate recovery. In a month or so, the breasts will settle and the post-surgery effects will diminish. The majority of our patients at Plastic Surgery Vegas remark they feel much lighter and more reassured after their procedure. Following breast reduction surgery, you can buy the clothes you have always wanted and enjoy your new shape. Keep in mind, it is important to stay at a healthy body weight so the outcomes are not negatively impacted.

Will my insurance cover breast reduction?
Your health insurance might cover part of the cost of breast reduction surgery if it is deemed medically necessary. If you are considering using your insurance, talk to our team so we can help you with your claim. You should also talk to your insurance company to find out if your specific policy might cover the surgery and the information they need to approve it. Your insurance might need measurements, like your height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and body surface area.
Will my nipples be moved?
Usually, the nipples and areola will be shifted up to a higher position on the breast during breast reduction surgery. If a significant amount of tissue and skin needs to be removed, your nipple-areola area may need to be moved. Our surgical team will choose a technique, like the anchor incision, so the nipple and areola can be moved higher on the breast. It is also possible to reduce the size of the areola with an areolatome. All of these options will be explained during your consultation so we can help you decide on the best treatment plan to meet your goals.
Can I breastfeed after a breast reduction?
Reduction surgery may affect your ability to breastfeed. While some women can still breastfeed after a surgical reduction, some cannot. It's difficult to predict whether your surgery will cause you problems with breastfeeding. For this reason, we suggest that patients wait to have the surgery until they have completed growing their family or to understand that they may not be able to breastfeed after having breast reduction surgery.
Can my breasts redevelop after surgery?
After reduction surgery, your breasts can get smaller or bigger with dramatic weight changes. This is why it's helpful to be at a healthy weight prior to your surgery that you can easily maintain. During your consultation, we will talk to you about the best ways to prepare for your surgery and what you can do afterward to ensure that your results last.
